Situated directly behind the historic Chock In Store, home of Daniel Thiebaut restaurant, our two delightful cottages are ideally placed for exploration of scenic upcountry Waimea, and the rest of Big Island.
About Waimea
Waimea, also known as Kamuela, has developed into a charming town with its own restaurants, art galleries, museums, and a performing arts theater. Due to its humble beginnings as a ranching town, there are also rodeo grounds, pastures where paniolo (cowboys) still round up cattle, and stables that offer horse and ATV rides through those same pastures. Happily, many of these adventures are within walking distance of our rental cottages.
The Big Island
Once you have explored Waimea to your hearts content, the rest of the Big Island beckons. Fifteen minutes down Kawaihae road will deliver you to beautiful white sand Hapuna beach, perfect for swimming and sunbathing. For sight seeing, travel the mountain road to Kohala, the birthplace of Hawaii's first king, where panoramic vistas open up with some of the best picture taking opportunities around. Of course, no trip to the Island of Hawaii is complete without an excursion around the island to see the beautiful Hamakua Coast, Hilo, with its rainforests and waterfalls, Volcano National Park, with its awesome lava shows and stark landscapes, and South Kona, with its ancient Hawaiian fishing villages.
Our Cottages
Our vacation rentals offer two options for a variety of travelers. Bothl cottages are available for a minimum of 2 nights and can be rented for longer periods of time, up to three months. Comfortably appointed, thel cottages have a full kitchen or kitchenette, full bathrooms, and parking. For larger parties, the Pua Cottage sleeps up to four while the Manu Cottage sleeps two. Amenities
To ensure the comfort of home, the cottages have a fully provisioned kitchen or kitchenette, with ample storage for dry goods. A refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker are also included.
Each cottage has its own private bath with towels and linens provided. A queen bed graces the sleeping area of each cottage, and extra blankets are available. There is also an iron, ironing board, and hair dryer available in each cottages.
In case you decide to take a break from the sun and stay inside while on vacation, each cottage is provided with free high-speed wireless internet, a radio/CD player, a television, DVD player, and satellite TV.
An added bonus to the cottages, their great central location offers easy access to a variety of shops and other essential businesses. Within walking distance is the center of town where you can find a number of banks, the post office, grocery stores, the hospital and other medical offices, boutiques for gift shopping, the library, and Waimea's public park.
